Ona je „prijateljica uskršnjeg zeke“ i ljubitelj pudlica, organske hrane, pletenja i kolačića. Svira ukulele, teremin, sitar, harmoniku i klavir-igračku, piskutavim dečijim glasom peva o puteru i jajima, elfovima, zlatnim muvama i piratima. Nosi šarenu odeću, farba kosu u fluorescentne boje, a na vrhu frizure joj se smeškaju cvetovi, šeširi što izgledaju kao patke i psići, i razni drugi ekscentrični ukrasi.

Rođena je pre tri decenije i godinu dana kao Gabby Lang, živi u kalifornijskom gradiću Pataluma, a u svetu muzike je poznatija pod umetničkim pseudonimom Gabby La La. Po sopstvenom priznanju, već od pete godine je znala da će da postane profesionalni muzičar! Nakon što je nekoliko godina učila klavir, bacila se na harmoniku i gitaru, da bi se naposletku posvetila sitaru i četvorogodišnjim studijama indijske muzike, a potom i usavršavanju sviračkog umeća na Kalifornijskom institutu umetnosti.

Na početku karijere nastupa s raznovrsnim muzičarima i postavama, od avanturističkog Dakah Hip-Hop Orchestra sve do mejnstrim zvezde Snoop Dogga. S vlastitim bendom Love Balm, na koncertu u San Francisku svira kao predgrupa Lesu Claypoolu. Virtuozni basista i frontmen kultne alt-rock grupe Primus je nakon svirke regrutuje za snimanje albuma „Onion“ (2002) svog tadašnjeg sastava The Les Claypool Frog Brigade, iz čega će se izroditi dugoročna saradnja dvoje umetnika koja traje sve do danas.

Solo prvenac „Be Careful What You Wish For“ Gabby La La izdaje 2005. godine na Claypoolovoj etiketi Prawn Song Records, predstavljajući 12 živopisnih i stilski raznovrsnih pesama. Od naslovne numere do zatvarajuće „Elf“ Gabby nas vodi kroz bajkovit autorski svet u kome se svakodnevne brige i dileme povlače pred nesputanom ekspresijom unutarnjeg bića - onog koje odbija da odraste i povinuje se ne samo društvenim, već i umetničkim normama.

Gabby La La i Les Claypool su jedini muzičari na albumu, no širok asortiman instrumenata navešće vas na pomisao da ovde svira čitav bend. Jednostavne pesme nalik dečijim razbrajalicama prepliću se sa zrelim i disciplinovanim aranžmanima, stavljajući do znanja da nemamo posla s raštimovanim naturščikom, već s umetnicom koja dobro zna šta hoće i kako da to ostvari.

U njenoj muzici prepliću se frik-folk, hindu-pop, kabare i tradicionalni kantautorski izraz, uvek nas vodeći do istog ishodišta - same Gabby La La, njene uvrnuto-vesele i razoružavajuće persone. U iščekivanju sledećeg diskografskog izdanja, odlazak na koncert biće idealna prilika da se uživo upoznamo s Gabby La La i makar na kratko prepustimo carstvu mašte i nesputane dečije radosti.

She’s a friend of “Easter Bunny”, an admirer of poodles, organic food, knitting, and cookies. She plays ukulele, temerin, sitar, accordion and piano-toy, with her shrieking childish voice she sings about eggs and butter, elfs, golden flys and pirates. She wears colourful clothes, dyes her hair in fluorescent colours, there are smiling flowers at the tips of her headdress, hats that look like ducks and little dogs, and lots of other eccentric decoration.

She was born three decades and a year ago as Gabby Lang, lives in the Californian city called Pataluma, and in the world of music, she’s better known under her artistic pseudonym as Gabby La La. With her own acknowledgement since the age of five she has known that she will become a professional musician! After a  few years of learning how to play the piano, she started to play an accordion and a guitar, and after a while she dedicated her time to a sitar and four-year studies of Indian music, and after that, she started improving her playing expertise at Californian Institute of Arts.

In the beginning of her carrier she performed with various musicians, from avanturistic  Dakah Hip-Hop Orchestra to mainstream superstar Snoop Dogg. At the concert in San Francisco with her own band called Love Balm she  played before Less Claypool. After the concert virtuous bas player and frontment of cult alternative- rock band Primus, conscripts her for making the album “Onion”(2002) of his band called The Les Claypool Frog Brigade at that time. Since then, two artists have still cooperated.
Gabby La La 2005 releases her first album. „Be Careful What You Wish For“ at the Claypool eticket Prawn Song Records, representing 12 picturesque and stylishly various songs. From her theme tune till closing song called “Elf”, Gabby takes us through fairy-taled authorial world in which everyday worries and dilemas retreat beneath unrestrained expression of its inner being -  the one who refuses to grow up and conform not only to social, but also artistic norms.
Wide range of instruments will make you think that the whole band is playing, despite the fact that Gabby La La and Les Claypool are the the only musicians on the album. The simple songs like chidish “Little Fortune Cookie”, mixed up with mature and disciplined musical arrangement, clarifies that we’re not dealing with unregulated dilettante, but with an artist who knows what she wants and how to manage it!
In her music there is a mixture of  fric-folk, hindu-pop, cabaret, and traditional songwriter's expression, which always leads us to the same result -  her own Gabby La La and her weird and cheerful personality.
